From the rural communities of Buesaco in Nariño, this natural lot is produced by smallholder farms working with Promotora de Cafés de Altura, a quality-focused regional project.

Grown at high elevations with dry climate and mountainous terrain, the coffee develops slow maturation and balanced character shaped by careful selection and structured processing.

ABOUT THE FARM

This coffee comes from smallholder producers across the Buesaco municipality, including villages such as Buesaquito, El Naranjal, Ortega, Veracruz, and Santa María. These areas share similar geography, with elevations between 1,700 and 2,100 meters, natural water sources, and native forest reserves that support a diverse ecosystem.

Promotora de Cafés de Altura works with these producers to cup coffees throughout harvest, selecting lots based on quality and consistency. Some contributors are newer farmers experimenting with small pilot projects, improving yields and cup quality through careful practices and attention to detail.

ABOUT THIS COFFEE

This profile is composed of selected lots from several producers across Buesaco, chosen for their shared altitude, climate, and cup quality. The result is a consistent expression of the region’s character while reflecting the work of multiple small farms working toward higher quality standards.

PROCESSING & FERMENTATION

Fully ripe cherries are harvested at peak maturity and floated to remove lower-quality fruit. Fermentation takes place in tanks and sealed environments with monitoring of temperature, pressure, pH, and Brix levels, followed by mechanical or solar drying at controlled temperatures.

This careful natural process enhances sweetness and body while preserving clarity and structure, delivering a balanced and expressive cup true to Buesaco’s high-altitude terroir.
